Saffron is the most expensive spice in the world for a simple reason: each flower gives only three red stigmas, and every one is picked by hand. That also makes it the most commonly adulterated spice on the market — often padded out with safflower, dyed corn silk or the yellow style of the flower, which has no flavour at all. Ours is pure stigma: deep red threads with a lighter tip, a strong honey-and-hay aroma, and the natural compounds crocin, picrocrocin and safranal that give saffron its colour, taste and scent.
Key Benefits
- Hand-picked, deep red stigma threads with no yellow stem or filler
- Naturally contains crocin, picrocrocin and safranal
- A pinch colours and perfumes an entire dish
- Traditionally used in biryani, kheer, zarda, qehwa and milk
- No added colour, no safflower, no dye
How to Use
Soak a small pinch (8–10 threads) in two tablespoons of warm milk or water for 10–15 minutes, then add the liquid and threads to your dish. Never boil saffron directly — the aroma is delicate and heat destroys it. A genuine thread will slowly release golden-orange colour, not red.
